The ability to feel and understand doesn’t solely lie with humans. Animals, also, are capable of thinking and feeling emotion. We can almost feel their mood, as when approaching a stray cat and knowing whether or not it will give in to our coaxing and let us pet them.
Animals have their own interests. They like what they like. Their whole personality shines through their interaction with the surrounding environment, interaction with humans, as well as other animals. This goes against the dated beliefs that animals don’t have a consciousness or even a soul.
Animals are our friends. We should not support the killing industry, slaughterhouses and factories for the production of meat, because any meat is the dead body of a once living being. Animals are our brethren. We must cherish life, not only of human beings but also of any animal and insect, be it an ant, a rabbit, or a dragonfly... Buddha left us a legacy of wonderful words which can be considered a hallmark of wisdom: “All beings tremble before violence. All love life. All fear death. See yourself in others. Then whom can you hurt? What harm can you do?”
Presently a lot of people calmly eat, for example, fish. They consider it normal. As a rule, they read intelligent articles on phosphorus, which is supposedly indispensable and found only in fish. Actually, anyone can always make a choice. A meal of meat is someone else's pain and suffering. Fortunately, many sources also tell a different story: that one can live without meat. If someone does not know how to slaughter animals, nor sees how they are killed, they must watch the film "Earthlings". Meat was once a living creature, and holds the whole nightmare and horror that the animal experienced before it was killed. An animal is an individual; by killing the animal, man accumulates negative karma and risks the next life "wagging tail".
Unfortunately, eating meat was embedded in society so that people would become stupid, fearful, and angry; these consequences aren’t immediately noticeable. The argument that meat is necessary for good health is a fallacy. Many people have long come to the conclusion that a vegetarian diet is healthy. However, vegetarians need less time for digestion.
In vegetarians, hemoglobin is on average higher than in those who eat meat, according scientific study. Vegetarian food is diverse. There are no problems in this regard at all. Meals with meat and without meat have their own distinction. There is something about it filled with beauty and pure life. In terms of vegans, for example those in Africa, there are tribes who in all their life have eaten only coconuts and other fruits. Vegetarian and vegan food is very light food. This is a more aesthetic approach to life. If a person does not kill anyone, and is not conducive to murder; if cats, dogs, chickens, pigs, and all other living creatures get to live in peace, and are loved, then that person will have good fortune. People do not always associate a steak on a plate with a dead animal, and that means only one thing: unconsciousness.
Leonardo da Vinci on vegetarianism: "Truly man is the king of beasts, for his brutality exceeds them. We live by the death of others. We are burial places! I have since an early age abjured the use of meat, and the time will come when men will look upon the murder of animals as they look upon the murder of man." Five thousand years ago in the Vedas it was written that the century of degradation begins with eating meat, the killing of cows, and milk denigration. This has already occurred. "As long as people kill animals, they will continue to kill each other. Those who sow the seed of murder and pain cannot reap joy and love.” - Pythagoras. “I am a supporter of animal rights as well as human rights. This is the path for all mankind."- Abraham Lincoln. “You have just dined, and however scrupulously the slaughterhouse is concealed in the graceful distance of miles, there is complicity."- Ralph Waldo Emerson. "Soon after I went vegan, I saw some documentary footage of what happens in the factory farming of cows... It sealed the deal."- Anthony Kiedis.
We are what we eat. A vegan dish is fruit and berries, grains, nuts and seeds, legumes, vegetables; no cholesterol, saturated fats, uric acid, pathogenic bacteria, casein, animal adrenaline, carcinogenic fats, purulent cells, pain and suffering. When it comes to vegetarianism and veganism the question is explicitly clear; this is for the future of the planet: for clarity, peace, justice.
It is also necessary to show compassion and give up fur. Fur is not torn off your own back. One coat = 18 foxes, 27 raccoons, 55 mink, or 250 squirrels that have been killed. Speak up for those who cannot talk. One vegetarian saves about 90 animals and a 1/2 hectare of forest annually.
Over the past 50 years, humans have destroyed 90% of the world's large fish stocks, 70% of the world's forests, more than 45 000 lakes, and 25% of all bird species. We all have a responsibility for what we say and do. This is karmic law. If we say or do pleasant and useful things - we receive good karma; when we do or say mean and hurtful things we receive bad karma. We have to fill our mind with such concepts as harmony, health, peace, goodwill, and sanity.
Our own life is our own creation. The richest treasure of life - a loving heart - breathes blessings for everyone: friends and enemies, humans, birds and animals. There is no need to settle for stories about how it all went to the wrong way. Create your own legend, with thoughts of kindness, compassion, and altruism. author:Anastasia Fomina
